This original vintage poster by Alain Chamfort is a true piece of music history!
Printed in 1979, the poster promotes the third album "Poses" by the French singer and composer.
Some texts are written by Serge Gainsbourg, in particular what will be his greatest hit, "Manureva".
Originally, the song was to be called "Adieu California" but Chamfort is not convinced. It was during a dinner that Gainsbourg heard about the missing navigator Alain Colas and his boat Manureva. The subject inspires him with the lyrics of the song which, in addition to becoming a hit, is a melancholic disco track revealing a very creative production work.
More generally, the new musical orientation of Alain Chamfort, tinged with “new romanticism”, recalls the English productions of Duran Duran or Roxy Music. Manureva sells nearly a million copies and allows Alain Chamfort to reconnect with the success he had known at the beginning of the decade.
